Why Do Different Universities Have Different GPAs?

Each university in Nepal follows its own grading policy, resulting in different GPA values for the same percentage:

  • TU & NEB use a relative grading system where 100% = 4.0 GPA (formula: %/25)
  • KU uses an absolute grading scale where 90%+ is needed for 4.0 GPA
  • PU & PBU use a stricter formula where even 80% gives 4.0 GPA (formula: %/20, capped at 4.0)
Important: When comparing GPAs between students from different universities, always consider the grading system used.
